The DogPause bowl is an simple way for pet owners to slow their dogs down when they eat. It’s divided into four half-cup sections and is designed so dogs will have to use their tongue to get the food out of the bottom of each section.
Archie & Lydia have both tried the bowl and it did indeed slow them down. What I thought was really interesting was that Archie did the easy work first, and ate a little out of each section. Then he went back and worked on getting the rest out. He normally takes his time eating though so it may have been a bit of a game for him. Lydia, on the other hand, concentrated on getting all of the food out of one section before moving on to the next.
Just like in humans, when dogs eat too fast they can experience vomiting, gas, belching, gagging, or even bloat, which can be life-threatening. So, slowing them down is better for them, and the DogPause bowl gets the job done.
This is a great bowl for dogs that eat too fast, but it’s also an excellent tool for pet owners. Since each of the sections holds a half-cup of food it’s easy to measure the food. And with pet obesity being such an issue these days, people can use it to make sure their dogs don’t get too much of a good thing!

I love the idea – but really wish they’d make them out of stainless steel instead of plastic. Steel holds up better over time and doesn’t make my dogs’ noses turn pink.
This is such an innovative design! Pet obesity is a growing problem and products like this will really help. The pun is also clever.
I just reviewed one as well…looks like the company is aggresively marketing the product. But I did find that it worked.
