The FDA is looking into complaints from dog owners that treats from Dynamic Pet Products is causing illness and death in their dogs.
The Food and Drug Administration is reviewing concerns that a Missouri-produced pet treat has caused serious illness or death in dogs, a spokesman said Thursday.
The FDA is looking into complaints about Real Ham Bone for Dogs, sold throughout the U.S., an agency spokesman said. If warranted, he said, it will take appropriate action and notify the public.
The product — a smoked pig femur sold as a dog treat or chew bone — is distributed under the Dynamic Pet Products label of Frick’s Quality Meats in Washington, Mo.
The company said Thursday in a statement that it was saddened to learn of the illnesses and deaths of customers’ pets, and that quality and safety remain priorities.
“That is why every package contains a label that provides detailed instructions to owners on how they can help their pets best enjoy our products,” the statement said. “We strongly encourage owners to supervise their pets with any treats or snacks.”

Hi I just wanted to let the public the real truth about Dynamic Pet Products. First let me say that my cocker spaniel was given one of their ham bones, happily I can say she survived, but was in the hospital for almost 4 days at the cost of almost $4,000.00. Sara Mades of Dynamic Pet has told everyone how sorry she is to hear about what happened to our dogs. She tells everyone to send her our vet bills and that she will take care of it. Sorry to say that’s not the case, instead she sends the bills to her insurance carrier and we all got the same form letter denying the claim. My dog got injured by this product in Oct. 2008. It has been just recently that they actually changed to warning label to read from, if splintering occurs remove the bone. Well since none of us saw any splinters, nor did the dogs vomit up splinters only fragments and chunks, they have now added those key words to the warning label. Oh but she was generous to some people whos dog died. She did pay for some bills with conditions attached. She even went so far as to pay a person to replace the dog that died as a result of eating the bone. How in Gods name can a person say they’re not to blame and that the product is great and safe, and turn right around and have selective pay outs. Sounds like an admission of guilt to me!! If a company has to put on such a detailed warning label, I think they feel it’s a dangerous product. Why don’t they try telling the public what’s really in those bones, like listing all the ingredients, or do they have something to hide?
Yes i was the owners Dog that was replaced…We still miss our beloved Jake it sickens me to know they are still selling this product and other pets are dying and nothing is being done.

NO pig bone is safe for dogs – they all splinter, particularly after being heat-treated. Pet owners should stick to dried COW ears for the healthiest and safest chew.
Amazed a company is producing these. Terrible.
